MAAUN Group of Universities on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Macau Digital Library Association, China, as part of effort to promote collaboration in library resources and information exchange.
The universities are Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Maryam Abacha American University of Niger- Maradi and Franco-British International University (FBIU), Kaduna.
The signing of the MoU, which was conducted virtually, will give the universities the opportunity to access the MDLA Digital Library Platform to promote teaching and learning in the institutions.
Earlier in her remark, the President, MDLA, Lori Luo, who gave a brief overview of the MoU, noted that the partnership established a framework of cooperation between MDLA and the three universities for the donation and access of the MDLA Digital Library Platform, promoting collaboration in library resources and information exchange.
In their separate remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Franco-British International University (FBIU), Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Mohammed and Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, MAAUN Niger- Maradi, Prof. Rayyan Garba described the MoU as a welcome development for the institutions.
They expressed hope that the collaboration between MDLA and the three universities would lead to greater achievements in the future.
Also speaking, the Vice President Administration MAAUN Nigeria, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, described the MoU as a very important development for the institutions as students and faculty members stand to benefit a lot from it.
While acknowledging the importance of e-resources, Dr. Awais assured that the three universities would utilize the MoU to help faculty and students access the library resources as well as improve access to information.
The President, MDLA, Lori Luo signed the document on behalf of her organization while Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Mohammed and Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance MAAUN Niger- Maradi, Prof. Rayyan Garba, signed on behalf of their respective universities.
Other top management staff of the university present at the occasion included Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna and Head, International Office MAAUN Nigeria, Engr. Bashir Garba and Eng. Muftawu Sanusi.
