MAAUN Partners Tech Innovators & Solutions Networking Initiative on Entrepreneurship, Innovation

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria on Thursday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tech Innovators and Solutions Networking Initiative (TISNI) as part of an effort to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, and technology development among students and the larger university community.

The partnership also aims to empower students through startup support, and help them bring their final year projects to life, ultimately building a vibrant and sustainable tech ecosystem within the university.

The President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr signed the document on behalf of the university while the Deputy Executive Director of TISNI, Mrs. Aisha Kwaku, signed on behalf of her organization.

In his remark, Prof. Israr who described the day as a historic one for the university, gave a brief overview of the university.

Prof Israr noted that the signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a transformative partnership to shape the future of innovation and technology in Nigeria.

He said the MoU would give MAAUN students opportunity to have access to TISNI exclusive training, programs, mentorship, and startup support.

Also speaking, Hajia Aisha Kwaku who gave an overview of the organization, said the partnership would provide students of MAAUN with a number of opportunities including access to mentorship, exclusive programs, and business ideas evaluation, among others.

According to her, the collaboration would not only foster a vibrant tech ecosystem within MAAUN but also to empower students to become problem-solvers, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the global tech landscape.

In his contribution, the Director, African Institute for Solutions and Development (AISD), Dr. Salisu Mohammed Lawan who spoke at length on the activities of the Institute, stressed the need for both organizations to take critical steps to address the menace of out-of-school children in Kano State and other parts of the country.

Dr. Lawan called for a stronger collaboration to tackle the problem of out-of-school children especially in the northern part of the country where the problem is more pronounced.

In his remark, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar noted that the university and TISNI share a lot in common, especially in the area of digital skills.

He said the university which accord priority attention to innovation, has established an innovation hub where students have opportunity to showcase their talents.

Dr Awais expressed hope that the university and TISNI would work towards the full implementation of the MoU with a view to achieving the set objective.

In her vote of thanks, the Assistant Head, Career Guidance, Training and Placement, Mrs. Janvi Haresh, thanked TISNI for their readiness to partner with the university.

Among the Management staff members that witnessed the MoU signing ceremony were the Head, Human Resource Unit, Hajia Maimuna S. Bello; Head, International Office; Engr. Bashir Muhammad Garba, among others.
