Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Daaru Salam University (DSU) Somalia as part of continued efforts to expose the university to other higher institutions across the globe.
The President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, signed on behalf of his university while the Chancellor/ Founder of DSU , Dr. Osman Mohamed signed the document on behalf of his university.
The signing of the MoU which was signed virtually, aims to establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on academic, scientific and cultural cooperation between the two universities.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Israr said other areas of the partnership include the exchange of faculty professors, researchers, students, publications, academic programs and research projects.
In his remark, the Chancellor/ Founder of DSU, Dr. Osman Mohamed expressed the commitment of his university to ensure effective implementation of the MoU with a view to promoting research and innovation for academic excellence.
In his closing remark, Vice President Administration of MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar appreciated the commitment of the two universities and expressed hope that the partnership would yield fruitful results.
He also reiterated the commitment of the university to see that the timeline set for the implementation of the MoU is strictly adhered to.
Among the Management staff members of MAAUN that witnessed the MoU signing included the Head, Human Resource Unit, Hajia Maimuna S. Bello, Head, International Office, Engr. Bashir Muhammad Garba and his Assistant, Mrs Janvi Haresh among others.
Others were the Head, Corporate Communications, Tukur Muntari; PRO Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah; Secretary to the President, Basira Oyewo; and IT team, Fatima Tofa and Khadija Ibrahim.
Officials from the DSU that witnessed the occasion were, Prof Abdi Adan Osman – Legal Advisor, Eng. Elyas Yakub Osman, Vice Chancellor Academics, Dr. Eng. Mumin Jafar Mumbere, Academic Advisor, Dr. Ahmed Ali Mohamed, Director of Postgraduate and Mr. Faisal Omar Nur, Human Resource Manager.
