A delegation from the American University of Nigeria (AUN), led by its President, Dr. DeWayne P. Frazier, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria in Kano.
The visit aimed to foster mutual understanding between the two institutions.
In his remarks, Dr. DeWayne P. Frazier expressed his delight at visiting the university and commended its beautiful environment and vibrant student population.
He particularly praised the university’s efforts in maintaining green and clean surroundings despite the challenge of hard water in the area.
Dr. Frazier emphasized that education is a powerful tool against poverty and encouraged students to stay committed to their studies.
He used the occasion to commend Nigerians as kind and welcoming people and thanked MAAUN management for giving them the opportunity to tour the campus and share ideas.
In his remarks, the Acting President of MAAUN, Prof. Ahmad Ibrahim Maigari warmly welcomed the AUN delegation and expressed appreciation for their visit.
He highlighted the founder’s deep passion for education and his vision to establish four universities across Nigeria and beyond.
Prof. Maigari listed the four world class universities established by Prof Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo as part of his mission to transform the education sector in Nigeria and beyond.
Prof. Maigari further explained that Prof. Gwarzo honored former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his pioneering efforts in establishing an American-style university in Nigeria, which inspired the decision to name the School of Management and Social Sciences after him.
He added that Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria has over 5, 000 students while more than 6,000 students graduated from Maryam Abacha American University of Niger-Maradi, reflecting its continuous growth and dedication to academic excellence.
Both institutions expressed their mutual interest in building a lasting partnership and working together to advance higher education in Nigeria.
The visit concluded with a campus tour led by the Vice President Administration of MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar.
