The Tech Innovators and Solutions Network Initiative (TISNI), in partnership with the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, has hosted the maiden edition of the Students’ Local Solutions Exhibition, bringing together innovators from across Nigerian universities.

The event, held on Thursday at MAAUN, offered a platform for final-year students to showcase their creative projects before industry experts, investors, and policymakers.

A total of 10 universities participated, including MAAUN, Skyline University, Bayero University Kano, Northwest University Kano, Federal University Dutse, Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto, Baba Ahmed University, Capital City University, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

TISNI Team Lead, Mrs. Aisha Kwaku, said the initiative was designed to inspire students to turn innovative ideas into viable business ventures.

She noted that participants were evaluated on creativity, quality, and market potential.

The President of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, commended the students for their originality and innovation, encouraging them to see creativity as a pathway to independence.

Prof. Gwarzo went further to support the initiative with additional cash donations to all winners beyond the official TISNI prizes.

MAAUN students also made their mark as the university’s iLearn team secured the third-place position, winning ₦150,000 from TISNI
and an extra ₦300,000 from Prof. Gwarzo.

Acting President of MAAUN, Prof. Ahmad Ibrahim Maigari, lauded TISNI for the collaboration, describing it as a project that aligns with MAAUN’s vision of nurturing innovators and entrepreneurs.

In the final results, Mind Therapy Nigeria emerged first, receiving ₦500,000 plus ₦1 million extra, while Moisture Humidity & Temperature clinched the second position with ₦300,000 and ₦500,000 additional support and Gluco Care came fourth, earning ₦50,000 plus ₦200,000 extra.

The event was attended by some Management staff of MAAUN including the Vice President Administration, Dr Habib Awais Abubakar and Vice President Campus Life Dr Hamza Garba among others.
