A new education management platform, Schooltra, has been launched in Kano to drive digital transformation across Nigeria’s private schools.
The launch took place during a conference on digital transformation in schools, organized by Zenith Global IT Solutions in collaboration with education stakeholders at the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano.
Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Global IT Solutions, Mr. Abdullahi Sabo Mahuta, said the conference was organized to formally introduce Schooltra and demonstrate how it simplifies school administration and assessment.
He explained that the software features results processing, online result checking, finance management, attendance tracking, and Computer-Based Testing (CBT) with Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Other features include school website integration, admission portal, and dedicated portals for parents and students.
Mr. Sabo noted that while Schooltra currently targets private schools, the goal is to extend it to public schools.
“The private school sector was chosen as a starting point, with the hope that demonstrated success will attract government adoption in public schools,” he said.
PRIME TIME NEWS observed that one of the platform’s standout features is its CBT examination tool, which allows schools to conduct objective tests, fill-in-the-blank assessments, and other computer-based evaluations — innovations previously limited to universities.
Chairman, Board of Trustees, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Dr. Sa’idu I. Mijinyawa, described the conference as timely, noting that Nigeria is transitioning into a technology-driven education system.
He said the move aligns with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) plan to fully adopt CBT from 2026, making digital readiness a necessity.
“We are now living in a technology-driven world. Schools must prepare for this new reality or face serious challenges,” he warned.
Dr. Mijinyawa urged the organizers to make the programme continuous, saying it will help improve teaching and learning across private schools.
In his remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, commended Zenith Global IT Solutions for the innovation and pledged the university’s support for future editions.
He noted that MAAUN currently has over 5,000 students, about 80 percent of whom are female, with learners drawn from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Prof. Israr also highlighted the university’s rapid growth into a group with campuses in Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja, established by its founder, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo.
The event featured the official launch of Schooltra Software and the Zenith Resource Development Centre, jointly performed by the Kano State Commissioners for Education and Power and Renewable Energy, alongside other dignitaries.
The Schooltra Project is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, MAAUN, PR Nigeria, NAPPS, Association of Private School Owners of Nigeria (APSON), Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS), and Independent Schools Proprietors Association of Katsina (ISPAK).
