Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria through its African Institute for Solutions and Development in partnership with Franco-British International University (FBIU), Kaduna, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The African Institute for Solutions and Development (AISD), is a Development arm of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).
The visit aims to promote collaboration, open communication channels and increase visibility of the MAAUN Group of Universities.
Speaking during the visit, the President of FBIU, Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Muhammad, described the day as remarkable in the history of the university, noting that it was the first courtesy visit by the institution to the Emirate and to the father of its host community.
He stated that the visit was deliberate and symbolic, as it was important for the university to formally inform the Emir of its presence and operations within the community.
Prof. Sabo informed the Emir that FBIU, Kaduna, was established in 2022 by Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and commenced academic operations in February 2025 with 17 academic programmes across four schools.
Earlier, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Isar conveyed the warm greetings of the Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities to the monarch.
He noted that the universities under the MAAUN Group are all structured to meet global standards while addressing local and national needs.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of AISD, Dr. Salisu Mohammed, explained that AISD operates as a bridge between academia and development.
“As part of the vision of MAAUN Group of Universities, the Institute was established to transform the traditional educational system into a development-focused model that responds directly to societal challenges,” he said.
Dr. Salisu noted that MAAUN Group is opening the doors of its universities not only to conventional students but also to members of the wider community, ensuring that education and development initiatives benefit everyone.
He disclosed that AISD has developed practical models aimed at addressing critical social issues, including out-of-school children, adding that with structured interventions and the support of ithe Zazzau Emirate, measurable progress can be achieved within a short time.
Responding, the Emir of Zazzau expressed his appreciation for the visit describing it a visit with a clear mission to solve real problems within the community.
He expressed optimism that in the years ahead, Franco-British International University would thrive as an institution, provided it continues to uphold quality education and maintain high academic standards.
