MAAUN Holds Orientation for Academic Staff on Teaching, Ethics, Technology

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has organized an orientation programme for new and existing academic staff to strengthen teaching quality, professional ethics, and institutional development.

The programme, held on Saturday at the university’s Twin Theatre, featured presentations on academic culture, technology-driven teaching, mentorship, examination ethics, and career development in higher education.

In his opening remarks, the President of MAAUN, Prof ( Dr.) Mohammad Israr, urged staff members to uphold professionalism, embrace modern teaching methods, and contribute to the university’s culture of academic excellence.

Prof. Abubakar Sadiq, the Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education, Research and Innovation,
spoke at length on academic nomenclature, university culture, and institution-specific systems.

The Dean of School of Computing, Dr. Abdulmalik Ahmad, presented sessions on institutional email, staff identification management tools, and e-pass setup.

He also trained participants on technology tools and digital platforms aimed at enhancing teaching delivery and student engagement.

Prof. A. Sabo, the VC Franco-British University, Kaduna, spoke on academic career development structure in the university.

He highlighted opportunities for promotion, research advancement, and professional growth available to academic staff.

On his part, Prof. Ahmad Maigari Ubrahim, the Dean of PG School, delivered a presentation on pedagogy and teaching in a university context, focusing on course outline design, course content development, and assessment techniques.

The programme also featured presentation by the Director of Human Resource Department, Hajiya Maimuna Bello, who welcomed the new employees and introduced them to major campus resources.

Other session by the Dean of School of Management Sciences, Dr Mahmoud Muktar Said, focused on the university code of conduct, examination regulations, project supervision ethics, and staff terms and conditions of service.

The program was attended by the VP Admin, Dr Habib Awais; Dr. Abdulkabir Abdullahi, Dr. Sameera Hassan, Deans of Schools and Chairs of departments.
