The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has expressed desire to partner Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) on capacity building training in areas such as business registration, public governance, and regulatory compliance.
The CAC delegation, led by the team lead, Mrs Aisha Salihu Dattijo, made this known during a courtesy visit to the university on Monday.
Dattijo, who is the Head of CAC Kano Nodal Office, outlined the numerous advantages that MAAUN students will gain when the proposed MoU materializes.
The team was received on arrival by key MAAUN officials, including the President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr; VP Administration, Dr. Habib Awais; VP Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba; Dean of PG School, Prof. Maigari Ibrahim; and Director of IAHERI, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq, among others.
The parties engaged in a lengthy and productive discussion on how the partnership, once formalized, would be advantageous for all parties involved.
In their remarks, the CAC delegation explained that areas of partnership include internship opportunities, allowing students to gain practical experience in real-world business operations.
Other areas include integrating relevant topics into the university’s curriculum, thereby aligning academic programs with current industry standards and regulatory frameworks.
Earlier, Prof. Israr provided a brief overview of MAAUN, including student population, accreditation status, and student diversity.
He emphasized the importance of the MoU, stating that the university is ready to partner with CAC in areas of mutual interest.
Dr. Habib Awais, in his address, welcomed the idea of the MoU and reassured MAAUN’s commitment to collaborate with the commission, noting that the partnership is very timely.
The MoU discussion was witnessed by several MAAUN officials, including Dr. Salisu M. Lawan, Director of the African Institute for Solutions and Development; Engr. Bashir Garba, Head of the International Office; Mrs. Janvi Haresh, his assistant; and Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah from the Corporate Communications Unit.
