Guinea-Bissau’s Defence Minister, Dionisio Cabi, has hailed Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) as a world-class institution capable of competing with any university globally.
The dignitary expressed his views during a courtesy visit to Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the Founder and President of the MAAUN Group of Universities, at MAAUN Kano on Tuesday.
The Minister praised the university’s impressive facilities and its conducive environment for teaching, learning and innovation.
According to him, MAAUN is the best private university he has come across in Sub-Saharan Africa, taking into account the facilities established and its academic achievements.
While touring various facilities, including the Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin Lecture Theatre, the Minister commended Prof. Gwarzo for his efforts in establishing and equipping the university with state-of-the-art amenities.
Responding, Prof. Gwarzo thanked the Defence Minister for the visit which he said would go a long way in fostering cordial relationships between MAAUN and universities in Guinea-Bissau.
He also appreciated the Minister for finding time to visit the university despite his tight schedule and wished him a safe return to his country after his engagement in Nigeria.
Among management staff of MAAUN during the visit were the Vice President of Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba and Acting Director, Environmental Health, Dr. Abubakar Lawal Kankia and some faculty members among others.
