MAAUN–AISD Delegation Visits North West Development Commission, Seeks Partnership

A delegation from the African Institute for Solutions and Development (AISD) of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has paid a courtesy visit to the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to explore potential areas of partnership.

The delegation was led by the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, and was received by the Managing Director of the Commission, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Maaji.

In his welcome remarks, Prof. Maaji expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the role played by the founder of MAAUN in securing a befitting operational base for the Commission.

He explained that the Commission was established to address critical developmental challenges facing the seven states of the North-West geopolitical zone.

Prof. Maaji also outlined the seven key mandate areas of the Commission aimed at promoting sustainable development across the region.

He further described MAAUN as one of Nigeria’s leading universities, noting its commitment to quality education and growing international recognition, while expressing the Commission’s readiness to partner with the institution in advancing development initiatives.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Israr said the purpose of the engagement was to explore avenues for collaboration between the university and the Commission within the framework of its developmental mandates.

He commended the Managing Director for the progress made in repositioning the Commission to effectively deliver on its mandate.

Earlier, the Executive Director of AISD, Dr Salisu Muhammad, presented a comprehensive proposal highlighting potential areas of collaboration between the institute and the Commission.

Dr. Salisu also briefed the Commission on the institute’s track record in implementing development-oriented initiatives within the state and beyond.

As part of the visit, officials of the Commission conducted the MAAUN–AISD delegation on a guided tour of the Commission’s facility.

Those present at the meeting included the Chief of Staff to the Managing Director, Dr Maikudi Lawal, the Principal Secretary to the Managing Director, Engr Auwal Dansharif, as well as members of the AISD delegation.
