MAAUN Celebrates Nigeria’s Democracy Day

Dear Students and Staff of MAAUN,

Today, as Nigeria marks Democracy Day, we are reminded of the enduring strength of unity, participation, and the collective pursuit of a better tomorrow.

Democracy is more than a system of governance — it is a living commitment to justice, inclusion, and opportunity for all. At Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, we strive to uphold these principles daily. In our classrooms, research, administration, and student initiatives, we continue building a community where voices are heard, ideas respected, and innovation thrives.

On this important occasion, let us be inspired to:

  • Reflect on the sacrifices made to secure the freedoms we enjoy today

  • Engage actively in shaping a more just, inclusive, and prosperous society

  • Uphold the values of fairness, accountability, and service

As we commemorate Democracy Day, we encourage every member of the MAAUN community to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy—and to reflect on the responsibilities they bring.

Wishing you all a meaningful Democracy Day filled with pride, purpose, and renewed commitment to building a brighter Nigeria.

Signed:
