MAAUN Commiserates Prof. Gaji Fatima Dantata over son’s Death

 

The Management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, has extended its heartfelt condolences to one of the university’s council members, Prof. Gaji Fatima Dantata over the passing of her son, Ibrahim (Khalifah) Ibrahim Muhammad Maitashi.

Aged 40, Khalifa died on Saturday 7th June, 2025 following a brief illness.

In a statement on Saturday, the President of the University, Prof. (Dr) Mohammad Israr expressed deepest condolences to Prof. Gaji Fatima and her entire family over the great loss.

“With deep sorrow and profound grief, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ibrahim (Khalifah),” Prof. Israr was quoted as saying in the statement.

Prof. Israr described Khalifah as a remarkable soul whose calm strength, refined character, and deep sense of purpose touched many lives.

According to the statement, the Management of MAAUN, led by Prof. Israr had since paid a condolence visit to the bereaved mother.

Prof. Israr, who represented the Founder and President MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo during the visit, was accompanied by the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar and Director Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Nura A. Yaro.

Others were Prof. Ahmed Maigari Ibrahim Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba and Dr. Salisu Mohammed Lawal,
Execution Director, African Institute for Solutions and Development.

While condoling the bereaved family, Prof. Israr described the death of Khalifah as a huge loss and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the entire family the strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss.

“In this moment of pain, we pray that Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him Jannatul Firdaus, and gives strength and comfort to his family—especially his dear mother—and all those who cherished him,” Prof. Israr added.

Responding on behalf of the family, Prof. Gaji Fatima expressed gratitude to Prof. Gwarzo and the university management team for the condolence visit.

During the condolence visit, a special prayer was offered for the deceased.
