Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria on Wednesday signed another MoU with
Woldia University (WLDU) Ethiopia in its continued effort to globalize education and expand cooperation.
The signing of the document was conducted online in the presence of officials of the two universities.
In his opening remark, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, who signed the document on behalf of his university, said the MoU is designed to establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on academic, scientific and cultural cooperation.
Prof. Israr, who gave an overview of the university, said areas of cooperation include the exchange of faculty professors, researchers, students, publications, academic programs and research projects, among others.
In his remark, Mohammed Yimer, Coordinator for Academic Affairs Internationalization and Partnerships, Woldia University expressed confidence that the partnership would be helpful for exchanging best academic practices between the two institutions.
He reaffirmed the full commitment of the management of Woldia University towards the effective implementation of the agreement with a view to promoting academic excellence.
Also speaking, Belay Mengistie (PhD), Vice President for Administrative and Development, said the MoU would help WLDU to build a stronger partnership with MAAUN and stressed the need for the two institutions to work towards the full realization of the agreement.
In his contribution,the Vice President Administration of MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar hailed the management of the two universities for agreeing to allow their institutions to partner with each other.
He noted that the areas identified for the partnership, if carefully implemented, would yield the desired results stressing that the MoU was a significant step towards knowledge sharing between the two universities.
Management staff of MAAUN that attended the occasion were the Head, International Office, Engr. Bashir Muhammad Garba, Head, Human Resource Unit, Hajia Maimuna S. Bello and Assistant Head, Career Guidance and Placement Unit, Mrs Janvi Haresh, among others.
