Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has congratulated Dr. Ismail Danmaraya on his recent appointment as Commissioner by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement personally signed by the Founder and President MAAUN Group of universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and released to newsmen on Saturday.
Prof. Gwarzo said the appointment of Dr. Danmaraya as Commissioner by Governor Yusuf was not only appropriate but a deliberate attempt to put experienced hands in the administration to move the state forward.
He described the appointment of Dr. Danmaraya as a well- deserved appointment in view of his track records of service and significant experience in areas of education, research development, social mobilization, and community engagement.
Prof. Gwarzo also described the new appointee as a committed, patient, loyal and hardworking lecturer who will bring development and progress to the state in various aspects.
While wishing Dr. Danmaraya a successful tenure, Prof. Gwarzo prayed to Almighty Allah to guide and give him the wisdom to carry out his duties effectively.
“We pray that as he assumes office, may the Almighty Allah help him to succeed,” Prof. Gwarzo said in the statement.
Danmaraya holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Economics from Bayero University, Kano, and obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Before joining AUN in August 2021, he was a lecturer at Yusuf Maitama Sule (formally, Northwest) University, Kano where he coordinated conferences, research, and journal publications.
The new appointee has a strong background in research in the area of energy policy, environmental economics, and sustainability with significant publications in reputable journals including Quantitative Finance and Economics; International Journal of Business and Management and International Journal of Scientific and Technology Research, among others.
Until his nomination and subsequent appointment as Commissioner, Dr. Danmaraya was the Chairman,Task Force Committee on the revival of the 26 abandoned Kano State Entrepreneurship Institutions.
He was also a visiting Assistant Professor of Economics, in the Department of Economics, School of Social and Management Sciences (SMS), Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).
