MAAUN lauds Gaya Emirates for honoring Dr. Fanda with traditional title

The Management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano, on Wednesday, 30th May, 2023, paid an appreciation visit to the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Ibrahim, over the turbaning of Dr. Aminu Wada Fanda as the new Sarkin Dawaki Babba of Gaya Emirate.

The delegation, which was led by the President of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, was in the Emir’s palace to express immense gratitude to the Emirate Council for the singular honor done to Dr. Fanda.

Members of the delegation who were warmly received at the palace include Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba, Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Harouna and Head, International Office of the University, Engr. Bashir Garba.

The new title holder is an astute businessman and an academic par excellence, who is a lecturer with Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Kano.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Israr, lauded the Emirate Council for considering Dr. Fanda worthy of the appointment.

He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Founder and Chairman Governing Council of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, staff, students and the entire University community for the appointment.

Prof. Israr described the appointment as a well deserved one, saying Dr. Fanda is a man with impeccable character, who would contribute his own quota towards the development of the Emirate.

Responding, the Monarch said the title was conferred on Dr. Fanda based on merit and for his commitment to rendering philanthropic services to the community.

He urged the appointee to be a good ambassador of the Gaya Emirate wherever he is, and always engage in activities designed to move the emirate forward.
