MAAUN lauds Nigerian Institute of Food Science for promoting research, innovation

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has commended Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) for its commitment towards promoting research, innovation and sustainable practices within the food industry.

The President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr made the commendation in a goog will message he presented at the First Regional Food Science and Technology Summit held at the Dangote Business School, Bayero University Kano on Wednesday, 12th July, 2023.

He noted that the Institute, had through the collective efforts of its management, played a significant role in promoting research, innovation as well as ensuring food safety and quality which has not only safeguarded the well-being of the Nigerian populace, but has significantly contributed the country’s economic growth and development.

He also commended the effort of the institute for organizing the Summit which he noted had not come at a better time than now.

“May your institute continue to thrive, and your endeavors bring about a brighter and more prosperous future for Nigeria.

“On behalf of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, I wish to congratulate you and wish you success in all your deliberations,” Prof. Israr said.

Earlier in her address at the occasion, the chairperson NIFST, Northwest chapter, Dr. Zahrau Bamalli Nouruddeen said the conference was aimed at sharing knowledge, and engage in meaningful discussions on the theme of the conference: Positioning Northern Nigerian Foods for Global Market.

According to her, the conference was necessary in view of the fact that food is not only a basic necessity for human survival but also an integral part of of our cultural heritage.

She said the conference would provide the participants a unique opportunity to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities in promoting Northern Nigerian foods on the global stage.

Participants at the first regional NIFST conference were drawn from the three states comprising Katsina, Kano and Jigawa that made up the chapter.
