In its determined effort to empower its students with necessary skills and entrepreneurship, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Development Hub, Incubation and Conference Ltd.
Development Hub is a registered social enterprise dedicated to empowering youth and women through innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship by equipping them with industrial, digital, soft, and leadership skills.
The agreement which was sealed on Thursday between the two institutions, would provide enterprenual skills and opportunities to students and connect them to global markets after graduation.
In his opening remark, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, who gave a general overview of the university, said as an educational institution whose mission and vision is to offer the world talented leaders and captains of industries through the provision of affordable and qualitative education.
He said the MoU is expected to give students the opportunity to benefit from the Development Hub’s future projects that aligns with the institution’s goals.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Development Hub, Amb. Abbas A. Baba, who spoke at length on the activities of the organization, said it is committed to raising a new generation of skilled entrepreneurs to tackle unemployment among the youth in the country.
According to him, Development Hub advocates for quality, inclusive education and works with development partners and governments to foster an enabling learning environment.
He, therefore, expressed optimism that students of MAAUN would benefit a lot from the organization as soon as the MoU becomes operational.
In his remark, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar said the goals of the Development Hub aligned with the university’s mission and vision.
He stressed the need for universities to focus on how to address unnecessary poverty and youths’ restiveness, saying for universities to continue to graduate students without skills will not augur well for the country.
Dr. Abubakar expressed hope that the partnership between MAAUN and Development Hub would go a long way in addressing the challenges by nurturing talents to achieve their full potentials.
In her closing remark, the Head, Human Resource Unit, Hajia Maimuna S. Bello praised the two organizations for agreeing to partner with each other.
According to her, the university and Development Hub share the same mission and vision hence the need to ensure effective implementation of the partnership.
Other officials that witnessed the MoU signing ceremony included Head, International Office, Engr. Bashir Muhammad Garba and his Assistant, Mrs. Janvi Haresh and Mrs. Maimuna Yusuf Ahmad, Grant, Project and Partnership Manager from the Development Hub among others.
