MAAUN School of Computing Unveils 2026 Operational Vision, Launches Tech Innovation Initiative

The School of Computing, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), has unveiled its Operational Vision 2026, outlining a clear roadmap to position the School as a digitally driven and innovation-focused academic hub.

The ceremony, which was held recently, also featured the launch of the MAAUN Tech Innovators Scheme (MTIS), an initiative designed to promote creativity, hands-on learning, and technology-driven problem-solving among students.

In his opening remarks, the Chair of the Department of Computer Science, Mr. Mubarak Kabir Kankara, described the event as a major milestone in the School’s commitment to aligning academic programmes with evolving industry needs.

He noted that the Operational Vision was crafted to strengthen innovation, enhance graduate employability, and prepare students for the realities of the modern digital economy.

The vision prioritizes continuous staff training and retraining in emerging technologies, digital pedagogy, and industry-standard platforms.

It also emphasizes support for professional certifications, capacity-building workshops, and participation in academic and industry conferences.

The School also announced plans for the full automation of academic and administrative processes, including the deployment of integrated Management Information Systems (MIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to promote efficiency, transparency, and paperless governance.

The ceremony was attended by key university officials and stakeholders, including Prof. Ahmad Maigari, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies; Dean, School of Social Sciences, Dr Abdul-aziz Ibrahim; Engr. Bashir Garba, Head of Career Guidance, Training and Placement; and Engr. Hassan, Examination Officer, School of Computing.
