Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), with Alpha 10 Fund Management Limited, to provide free financial literacy training for students and staff of the university.
The MoU would also give students and staff of the institution the opportunity to understand the various investment opportunities being offered by the fund.
The agreement, which was signed on Friday at the Presidential Conference Hall of the university, was attended by some management staff of Alpha 10 and MAAUN.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Alpha 10, represented by the Regional Manager, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Ardo, said the organization currently operates three businesses including Islamic Halal Fund.
According to him, the financial literacy training will equip students and staff with lifelong skills in budgeting, saving, investing, and prepare them for future financial independence.
The Managing Director who appreciated the management of the university for their commitment to providing quality education, described MAAUN as one of the best private universities globally recognized.
Under the agreement, individuals, especially staff, could invest in the company thereby decreasing financial stress and workplace distraction while improving overall job performance.
Also in his remarks, the President of MAAUN, Prof.(Dr.) Mohammad Israr who gave a brief on the university, said the agreement focuses on four major areas including free financial literacy training for both staff and students and investing by individual members of the university.
He expressed the readiness and willingness of the university to extend the partnership with the three other members of MAAUN group of Universities– MAAUN Niger, Franco- British International University, Kaduna and Canadian University of Nigeria, Abuja.
In his contribution, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais, said the collaboration would pave the way for many opportunities, noting that both students and staff stand to benefit from the expertise of the company.
He said the signing of the agreement was not only timely considering the economic situation in the country, but would go a long way in strengthening the relationship between the university and Alpha 10.
In her closing remarks, the Assistant Head of International Office, Mrs. Janvi Haresh, thanked the university for signing the agreement, hoping that the partnership would be beneficial to both students and staff of the university.
