The students of Mass Communication from Maryam Abacha University of Nigeria on Thursday participated actively in the 2025 Nigeria Customs Service Annual Public Relations Workshop held at Bayero University, Kano.
The event, themed “Beyond Masters of Ceremonies: The Strategic Role of Public Relations Officers for Institutional Growth and Stakeholder Trust,” provided a unique platform for students to engage with seasoned professionals and industry scholars.
No fewer than twenty students from the department were nominated to take part in the capacity-building activities, which included hands-on mentorship sessions, roundtable discussions, and skill-building clinics in key areas such as crisis communication, digital strategy, and media engagement.
During the workshop, the students had the opportunity to interact directly with communication experts and the Assistant Comptroller of Customs, who emphasized the importance of professionalism and strategic communication in public relations.
The students participated in practical activities aimed at enhancing their communication skills and understanding the role of PR in fostering institutional growth and stakeholder trust.
