Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) and Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on creative and entrepreneurial skills development.
The partnership aims to empower final-year students with necessary creative and entrepreneurial skills to enable them to become self-reliant and employers of labor after graduation.
The signing of the MoU is part of MAAUN’s effort towards strengthening partnership and collaboration with relevant institutions and organizations with a view to promoting innovation in the university.
The President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr signed the document on behalf of the university while TAFTA Program Manager, Abubakar Balarabe Isah, signed on behalf of his organization.
In his remarks after the signing of the document, Prof. Israr, said the MoU was designed to empower final-year students in creative and entrepreneurial pathways through skills development, industry exposure, and institutional engagement.
He said the MoU is expected to cover five areas including mobilizing final-year students who have interest in creative fields to participate in TAFTA’s training programmes.
Other areas are dissemination of programme information through appropriate institutional channels such as faculty announcements, and promote visibility for each other’s programmes and collaborative initiatives, among others.
In his remarks, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing outstanding graduates that could be independent after graduation.
Dr. Awais, who described the MoU as a wonderful initiative, said the university was committed to partnering with institutions and organizations with a view to promoting its visibility globally.
Other management staff members present during the MoU signing ceremony included, Vice President Campus Life, Dr Hamza Garba, Head, International Office, Engr. Bashir Garba and his Assistant, Mrs Haresh Janvi, among others.
