Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria has launched the inaugural Medical Laboratory Science General Program, aimed at exposing students to diverse career paths and opportunities within the field of medical laboratory sciences.
The event, which took place on Sunday in the university’s twin theater, attracted numerous scholars and experts who engaged in in-depth discussions about the future prospects in this field of study.
Entitled ‘Beyond the Microscope,’ the maiden event was organized by the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences as part of an initiative to broaden students’ scope to specialized fields such as research, public health, and industry.
Speaking during the occasion, the President of MAAUN, Prof (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, who was represented by the Vice President Campus Life, Dr Hamza Garba, lauded the organizers of the event, saying such initiatives will give the students the opportunity to connect with potential mentors and employers.
Prof Israr also noted that the program will not only develop the students academically, but also expose them to the ethical and professional responsibilities associated with medical laboratory practice.
The session featured various lectures presented by experienced academics, covering a wide range of topics related to the future of Medical Laboratory Science and its allied disciplines.
Event highlights included poetry recitations, keynote speeches, a question and answer segment, and a photo session.
The event was attended by veterans in the field of medical laboratory sciences, including Professor Yelwa Gwarzo, Dr Tukur Wada Panda, MLS Moshood Ajayi, President of MLS BUK, among others.
