The third Students’ Week Program organized by Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) ended with exciting activities including thrilling football matches, poetry readings, colour festival and award presentations.
The final football match featured a showdown between the students of the School of Social and Management Sciences (SMS) and the School of Computing, which culminated in a nail-biting finish where students of the School of Computing secured victory through penalty kicks.
The two schools had earlier emerged winners during the first leg of the tournament held on Monday, 3rd February 2025.
Similarly, a football match took place between the staff of MAAUN-Maradi and their counterparts from MAAUN Nigeria, which ended in a 3-3 draw. The staff from MAAUN-Maradi triumphed in the match following a successful penalty shootout.
Following the football matches, the trophy was awarded to the students of the SMS, who emerged as the overall champions.
The Founder of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, who presented the awards to the participants, commended them for their outstanding performances throughout the event.
Individual accolades were given for the highest goal scorer and the best goalkeeper, who received the Golden Boot and Golden Globe, respectively.
The event being the last day of the week-long activity, also featured live performances from two renowned Hausa music artists, Rabiu Dalle and Nura M. Inuwa.
The occasion also featured presentation of awards to some students who emerged winners in the various competitions during the week-long program.
Notable attendees from the university management included the MAAUN President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, and Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, Vice President Administration.
Also in attendance were Dr. Shu’aibu Usman Tanko, Vice President of MAAUN-Maradi; Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Ibrahim Maigari, Vice President of Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba; as well as other university community members and invited guests.
