The Maintenance Unit of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has donated food items and clothing to an orphanage home in Nassarawa Local Government Area as part of its humanitarian outreach.
The donation exercise, held on Thursday, was led by the Head of the Unit, Zaraddeen Musa, alongside members of the maintenance team.
Speaking during the visit, Musa said the initiative was aimed at supporting vulnerable children and putting smiles on their faces.
He noted that the gesture also aligns with the humanitarian vision of the founder of MAAUN, Prof Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, who has consistently promoted charity, compassion, and service to humanity.
Musa explained that the unit was inspired by the founder’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged, adding that such values are deeply rooted in the university’s philosophy.
Items donated included bags of rice, cartons of noodles, beverages, and clothing materials for children of different age groups.
He further encouraged other organisations and well-meaning individuals to emulate such acts of kindness in order to support orphanages and vulnerable communities.
The management of the orphanage expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and a reflection of MAAUN’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service.
