Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) and National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Moscow, Russia on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in education and scientific research.
The MoU, which was signed virtually by the officials of the two universities, is expected to cover joint research activities in areas such as exchange of academic materials, students mobility, academic mobility as well as capacity building.
In his remarks at the occasion, the President of MAAUN, Prof.(Dr.) Mohammad Israr said the scope of the MoU includes joint research and exchange of academic materials, and would go a long way in promoting academic excellence in the two universities.
He, therefore, expressed commitment to ensure effective implementation of the agreement for the benefit of the two institutions.
Also speaking, the Rector NUST, Dr. Alevtina Chernikova, represented by Director, International Affairs, Mr. Dmitry Vasilevsky expressed confidence that the partnership between the two universities would contribute to greater knowledge and foster academic excellence.
Dr. Chernikova said the MoU will also serve as an avenue for strengthening the relationship between the two universities with a view to advancing research and innovation.
The Vice President Administration of MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar in his contribution stressed the significant opportunities offered by the MoU.
According to him, the MoU will give the universities the opportunity to collaborate on groundbreaking research projects, exchange knowledge and expertise in addition to enhancing educational experiences for students and faculty.
Also speaking, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, the Director of the Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), expressed delight at the signing of the MoU between the two universities.
He noted that the signing of the agreement marked a significant milestone in the history of the two institutions while serving as a testament to their shared commitment to advancing research and development.
In her vote of thanks, Hajiya Maimuna S. Bello, Head of Human Resource, who expressed delight at the signing of the MoU said the partnership wouldn’t have been more timely than now in view of its importance.
