Students from seven Nigerian universities are set to participate in the maiden edition of the Students’ Local Solutions Exhibition, organized by the Tech Innovators and Solutions Networking Initiative (TISNI).
The event, slated for Thursday, 16th October 2025, at the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), will provide an avenue for final-year students to present their innovative project ideas before industry experts and stakeholders.
TISNI Team Lead, Mrs. Aisha Kwaku, disclosed this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Acting President of MAAUN, Prof. Ahmad Ibrahim Maigari, where discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming expo.
She named the participating institutions as Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Skyline University, Bayero University Kano, Northwest University Kano, Federal University Dutse, Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, and Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto.
Mrs. Kwaku explained that the best-performing student innovators would receive awards and cash prizes ranging from ₦150,000 to ₦500,000, based on the quality, creativity, and market potential of their projects.
“The goal of this initiative is to inspire students to turn their innovative ideas into viable business ventures—moving from campus to market,” she said.
In his remarks, the Acting President of MAAUN, Prof. Maigari, commended the TISNI team for the initiative, noting that it aligns with the vision of the university’s founder, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, who consistently promotes innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
He pledged the institution’s full support to ensure the success of the event.
Also speaking, the Dean, School of Management Sciences, Dr. Mahmoud Mukhtar Sa’id, underscored the need for students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications to enhance their relevance after graduation.
He further encouraged students to conduct feasibility studies that would help them develop realistic and sustainable business ideas.
Dr. Sa’id expressed appreciation to TISNI for choosing MAAUN to host the event and for their commitment to advancing innovation and sustainable development.
The meeting was attended by other officials from both MAAUN and TISNI, including the Head of the International Office, Engr. Bashir Garba.
After the meeting, the TISNI delegation, accompanied by MAAUN officials, inspected the proposed venue for the event. The team expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation and the facilities available, noting that the environment was conducive for hosting an event of such magnitude.
