Stakeholders on Thursday engaged students of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria in the pre-engagement session on a local solutions exhibition organized by Tech Innovators and Solutions Networking Initiative (TISNI).
The event with the theme:Igniting Campus Innovation for Real-world Impact, was designed to give students the opportunity to showcase their start-up ideas ahead of the grand TISNI Local Solutions Exhibition christened: TISNI Expo 2025.
The program is also part of an effort to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, and technology development among students and the larger university community.
During the program, three panels of judges assessed the students’ presentation against eleven items including market potentials, customer demands, revenue model, technical innovation, scalability and business visibility, among others.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Executive Director TISNI, Malam Aminudeen Ibrahim, said the program aims to give MAAUN students the opportunity to display their final year project ideas to enable the panel of judges to assess their feasibility and marketability.
He explained that the event aimed to highlight TISNI’s mission and programs to students and faculty in an interactive and engaging format ahead of the grand TISNI Expo 2025.
According to him, TISNI is a formidable platform for people to showcase their talent especially, students who want to bring innovative ideas with a view to transforming them into reality.
He said the objective of the program was to identify and engage students with viable final year projects and start-up ideas as well as facilitate initial screenings of projects ahead of the main event.
Malam Hassan from TISNI, who spoke on the topic “From Campus to Market: Turning Projects into Products, urged students to make the best use of the opportunity, noting that it’s a rare privilege for them to be in MAAUN which partners with TISNI to promote innovation for sustainable development.
Among management staff of MAAUN that attended the program included Dean School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof, Ahmad Ibrahim Maigari; Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba; Head of HR Unit, Haj Maimuna S Bello, Dr. Sabina Brokecnica and Assistant Head, International Office, Mrs Janvi Haresh, among others.
