Tunisian Ambassador Seeks to Partner MAAUN in Research Development

The Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, has called for a stronger collaboration with Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) especially in the area of scientific research for the development of higher education.

Ambassador Mohsen Antit made the call when he paid a courtesy call on the founder of the university, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, along with a high-powered delegation of government officials in MAAUN on Monday evening.

He said the collaboration with Tunisian higher institutions would go a long way in promoting scientific research for the development of higher education in Nigeria and Tunisia.

Ambassador Mohsen Antit expressed his country’s commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships while calling for the establishment of a link between the MAAUN and Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

He lauded Prof. Gwarzo’s commitment to promoting innovation and for establishing the university and called for a stronger and good relationship between MAAUN and Tunisia.

In his remark, Prof. Gwarzo stressed the need for MAAUN and Tunisian universities to work together with a view to finding possible areas of partnership for the development of education and other sectors of the economy.

Prof. Gwarzo further advised the Tunisian Ambassador to use his good office to deepen collaboration with Northern Governors in key sectors, especially agriculture, to boost food production.

“We need to create an avenue, open the door of diplomacy and link your schools with private sectors so as to enable them to work together for the development of the two countries,” he said.

Among the management staff present during the visit included President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, the Dean School of Post Graduate Studies, Prof.. Ahmad Maigari Ibrahim and Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna.

Others were Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba, Head, International Office of MAAUN, Engr. Bashir Garba, as well as some faculty members.
