Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA), Malaysia and Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria have on Monday, solidified their commitment to academic excellence and research development through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The partnership, which was signed virtually, marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between the two institutions, with the goal of improving educational and research outcomes.
The MoU, which is effective for a five-year term, outlines several key areas for collaboration aimed at enhancing the academic and research capacities of both institutions.
These areas include the exchange of academic staff and students for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, fostering cross-institutional learning and research opportunities.
The agreement, signed in the presence of dignitaries from both institutions, includes joint research activities and publications aimed at addressing major global challenges through innovative and impactful research initiatives.
Other areas include organization of seminars, conferences, and workshops, while creating platforms for knowledge dissemination and academic dialogue between faculty and students.
During the signing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of UNISZA, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Fadzli Bin Adam, emphasized the significant opportunities the MoU presents for both institutions.
According to him, the agreement would open doors for various opportunities in the areas of academic and research development.
He further expressed his anticipation for swift implementation of collaborative activities, citing MAAUN’s reputation as a forward-thinking institution that makes it an ideal partner for achieving the shared objectives of the MoU.
Speaking during the occasion , the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to the partnership.
He described the MoU as a key milestone in MAAUN’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
Prof. Israr also commended UNISZA for its proactive approach to collaboration and expressed confidence that the partnership would provide valuable opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers.
In attendance were Engr. Bashir Garba, Head of Career Guidance, Training and Placement (CGTP) of MAAUN; Hajia Maimuna S. Bello, Head of Human Resource; Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah, Information Officer; Basirat Oyewo, Secretary to the President; Izdihar Saleh, a faculty member, as well as Farouk Tukur of the Corporate Communications and Protocol Unit.
