Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Healthcare Facilities 360 Services Limited, Abuja, on advanced cancer research, treatment and awareness advocacy in Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
The document was signed by Prof.(Dr.) Mohammad Israr on behalf of the university, while the General Manager, Administrative Services HF360, Mrs Daula Mohammed, signed on behalf of the agency.
The partnership will enable the two parties to conduct research projects aimed at understanding cancer prevalence, treatment efficacy, and prevention strategies
Similarly, the MoU would give the university the opportunity to engage in cancer awareness advocacy and sensitization programs for medical professionals, students, and the community regarding cancer prevention and treatment.
The partnership will also allow MAAUN students to intern at the Kano Cancer Treatment Centre, which enables them to gain practical experience.
In his remark, the President of MAAUN , Prof.(Dr.) Mohammad Israr who gave a brief on the university, said the partnership would go a long way in enhancing cancer research in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
Prof. Israr explained that the MoU aims to establish a partnership that enables the sharing of data, resources, and expertise between the university and Healthcare Facilities 360 Services Limited.
Also speaking, the GM Administrative Services, HF 360, Mrs Daula Mohammed thanked the Founder of the university, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for making the MoU possible.
In his remarks, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar stressed the need for increased cancer awareness, particularly in rural communities where many are uninformed about the disease and its risks.
He also expressed gratitude to Healthcare Facilities 360 Services Limited for partnering with MAAUN, describing the MoU as a milestone in achieving shared goals.
The signing of the MoU was attended by several participants from both MAAUN and HF360.
