The Mizani Publications, the Publishers of Al-Mizan Newspaper, has honored Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the Founder and President of MAAUN Group of Universities with an Award of Excellence.
The award was presented to Prof. Gwarzo on Sunday, 12th January, 2025 during the 35th Anniversary celebration of Al-Mizan Newspaper held at the Mambayya House, Kano.
The Award which was received by the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr on behalf of Prof. Gwarzo, was signed by Aliyu Saleh and Adamu Muhammad, Editor, Al-Mizan Newspaper and Chairman, Award Committee respectively.
According to the Newspaper, the decision to honor Prof. Gwarzo who was the former President, Protection Right of Journalists of Africa (PRJA), was in recognition and appreciation of his unwavering support, exceptional contributions towards community and societal development.
A statement by the editor of the paper, noted that Prof. Gwarzo was also honored with the “Prestigious Recognition Award” for his exceptional contributions to journalism, including his tenure as President of PRJA as well as his commitment to media development in Nigeria and beyond.
“As a trailblazer in journalism and a celebrated leader in the media industry, your outstanding achievements continue to inspire professionals across the continent,” the statement added.
In his acceptance remark, Prof. Gwarzo appreciated the management of the Newspaper for finding him worthy of the award and promised to continue to do best especially in the area of youth empowerment to enable them to contribute their quota towards the economic growth and development of the country.
