The Department of Cybersecurity and Information Technology at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) organized a special expert session on digital safety on Thursday.

Titled Mastering Digital Safety for Everyday Life, the event attracted staff, students, and other members of the university community.

The session was designed to educate attendees, particularly students, about the tactics used by cybercriminals to conduct illegal activities and scam unsuspecting individuals.

In light of the increase in digital threats in daily online activities, the program aimed at equipping participants with practical knowledge and tips to stay secure, make informed decisions, and navigate the digital world with confidence.

In her Presentation, the Director Women Affairs at International Cybersecurity and Digital Forensic Academy, Hajia Maryam Shuaibu Aliyu, urged students to take advantage of the program to protect themselves against cyber criminals, scammers and hackers.

In his opening remarks, MAAUN President Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr emphasized the relevance of the program, noting that it offers important insights and actionable advice to help attendees stay safe online.

He appreciated the speaker for her in-depth presentation of the topic while lauding the department for organizing the program.

Also in his remark, Prof. Ibrahim Lawal lauded the speaker for doing justice to the topic and urged participants to make the best use of the opportunity so as to protect themselves against cyber criminals.

In her closing remark, the Head, Human Resource Unit, Hajia Maimuna S. Bello thanked the Founder and President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for providing the necessary support to conduct such programs.

She also applauded the Speaker for her presentation which she noted was educative as it has enhanced the digital skills of the participants.
