Driven by its commitment to expanding international partnerships, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has partnered Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU) in Russia.
The agreement is designed to promote research in geosciences as well as educational and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.
The MoU which was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, President of MAAUN, and Prof. Mikhail Korniakov, Rector of INRTU, was designed to encourage research projects, organize conferences, seminars, and workshops as well as facilitate resource sharing.
During the virtual signing event, Prof. Israr highlighted that the partnership would foster research collaboration and cultural exchanges, promoting deeper understanding and friendship between Nigeria and Russia.
After giving a brief on MAAUN, Prof Israr assured that the university is dedicated to prompt and efficient implementation of the MoU.
On his part, Prof. Korniakov highlighted the importance of the partnership, expressing confidence that it will be mutually beneficial for both universities.
He also provided insights into INRTU’s strengths and expressed optimism about the promising future of the cooperation.
Dr. Habib Awais, MAAUN Vice President of Admin, remarked that the MoU is timely, especially as it seeks to address some global challenges and provide sustainable environmental solutions.
He reaffirmed that MAAUN is committed to quick implementation of the areas outlined in the agreement to make the partnership effective and impactful.
During the event, Prof. Mohammed Abubakar echoed the importance of the MoU, noting that its benefits extend beyond the participating institutions to Northern Nigeria and the entire African continent.
He urged both parties to commence efforts towards implementing the agreement quickly, highlighting that substantial advantages await the Northern region through the collaboration.
In a vote of thanks, Hajiya Maimunat Bello, Head of Human Resources Unit, expressed her gratitude to all participants for attending the ceremony and recognizing the value of this partnership.
She praised the founder of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for providing the platform and supporting the university’s international agenda to ensure the success of the cooperation.
