Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global University of Science and Technology (GUST), Dominican Republic.
The agreement, signed during a virtual ceremony, aims to boost MAAUN’s international visibility and foster collaborative academic research.
Under the partnership, both institutions will recruit domestic and international students, allowing them to complete their studies at either MAAUN or GUST.
The universities will also collaborate to develop professional programs and courses tailored to meet current national and international industry needs.
MAAUN President, Prof. Mohammad Israr, signed the agreement alongside GUST Founder and President, Prof. Mohamed Gamal Kafafy.
Prof. Israr expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that MAAUN currently runs 22 academic programs fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
In his remarks, Prof. Kafafy explained that GUST is an international university committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through leadership and employment-driven education.
Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, Director of the Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), added that the partnership aligns with MAAUN’s mission to develop talents that benefit society.
On his part, the MAAUN Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, congratulated both institutions and emphasized that the deal will provide students with essential skills for self-reliance.
