Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria and Bayero University Kano have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement covers faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research projects, conferences, seminars, academic publications and scholarship opportunities.
The partnership is also designed to promote innovation and cooperation in areas of mutual academic interest.
Upon arrival at the campus, the MAAUN delegation was warmly received by the Vice Chancellor of BUK, Prof. Haruna Musa, the University Registrar, Malam Haruna Aliyu, alongside other principal officers before proceeding to the official signing ceremony.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Prof Haruna Musa, appreciated the visit by the management of MAAUN and expressed optimism about the success of the partnership.
He reaffirmed BUK’s commitment to continue serving as a mentor university to MAAUN and assured that the institution remains open to offering support whenever necessary.
The Vice Chancellor used the occasion to commend the Founder of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his contributions to the education sector and prayed for greater success in his efforts.
According to him, Prof Gwarzo’s investment in education and human capital development has continued to impact lives positively and deserves appreciation and prayers.
In his remarks, the President of MAAUN, Prof (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, gave an overview of the university, highlighting its growth, academic achievements and commitment to quality education.
He appreciated Bayero University Kano for its support and mentorship, describing the partnership as beneficial to both institutions.
Important dignitaries from MAAUN present during the event included the VP Admin, Dr Habib Awais; Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, Prof Ahmad Maigari Ibrahim; Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Prof Abubakar Sadiq; Director, Human Resource Directorate, Hajiya Maimuna Bello.
Others were the Head, International Office, Engr Bashir Garba, his assistant, Mrs Janvi Haresh, Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah from Corporate Communications and Baseerah Oyewo, President’s Secretary.
