The President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, on Friday paid a working visit to Northwest University, where he congratulated the Vice Chancellor, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, on her appointment and presented her with a brand-new Hyundai vehicle.
Professor Gwarzo, who was received at the university by the Vice Chancellor and other senior officials, said the visit was primarily to congratulate Professor Bayero and appreciate her contributions to the development of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), where she served as a Visiting Professor.
He described the visit as a historic one, noting that Professor Bayero had given her best to MAAUN during her time at the institution.
“I’m here to pay a historic visit to a woman who has given her best to MAAUN. This is the time that you need our support as part of our appreciation for your service.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank the Governor for appointing you. He has identified competence, and since your assumption of office, I have realised and heard about the achievements you have so far recorded,” Professor Gwarzo said.
As part of his gesture of appreciation, Professor Gwarzo presented Professor Bayero with a brand-new Hyundai vehicle as a personal gift in recognition of her service and contributions to MAAUN.
He explained that the vehicle was different from the Hilux vehicle earlier presented to the university, stressing that the Hyundai was specifically meant for Professor Bayero as a personal gift.
“I’m gifting you this vehicle as a personal gift, not to the university, in appreciation of your service to MAAUN. We gifted the Hilux vehicle to the university, and this brand-new Hyundai is for you personally.
“I wish you well and pray to Allah to guide you towards discharging your responsibilities effectively,” he added.
It would be recalled that Professor Gwarzo has extended similar gestures to Northwest University in the past. During the administration of Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, who was Professor Bayero’s predecessor, he donated a luxury vehicle to assist with the transportation of students of the university.
More recently, Professor Gwarzo also presented a Hilux vehicle to Northwest University following a visit by the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Bayero commended Professor Gwarzo for the gesture, describing him as a visionary leader and educationist who has made significant contributions to the development of education in Nigeria.
She praised his commitment to the growth of private university education and his willingness to share not only his resources but also his expertise and experience in university management.
“You are a model for private university owners. You have set a path by establishing one of the fastest-growing private universities in the country.
“I have realised your passion for giving out not only your wealth but also your expertise in the management of universities. We thank you and pray to Almighty God to increase you in everything good,” Professor Bayero said.
The gesture further demonstrates Professor Gwarzo’s continued commitment to supporting institutions and individuals who contribute to the advancement of education and academic excellence.
