The Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has expressed the readiness and commitment of the university to support any project that would positively impact society.
Prof. Gwarzo gave the assurance on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the four-day practical workshop on Writing Winnable Grant Proposals, organised by the African Institute for Solutions and Development (AISD), a development arm of MAAUN.
The workshop, which was solely sponsored by Prof. Gwarzo, brought together participants from Civil Society Organisations, Community-Based Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations and development practitioners from across the country.
He said AISD was established by MAAUN to address major societal challenges through research and innovative solutions, with a view to improving lives and promoting sustainable development.
He said the training was part of an effort by the university, through AISD, to train participants in practical skills for developing high-impact development projects for the socio-economic development of society.
He charged the participants to extend the knowledge they acquired to their colleagues who were not opportuned to attend the workshop.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the AISD Board of Trustees, Dr. Audu Liman, said it was the first time in history that a workshop had been organised free of charge for all participants.
According to him, each participant was supposed to have paid N75,000, but Prof. Gwarzo took responsibility for paying the fees for them.
He appreciated AISD and the resource persons for their patience and commitment to extending their knowledge, expressing confidence that the capacity of the participants had been developed.
“I’m confident enough to say that the training will transform and improve the lives of people in our society,” he said.
Similarly, in his remarks, the Executive Director of AISD, Dr. Salisu Muhammad Lawan, called for intensified prayers to enable Prof. Gwarzo to continue with the good work he has been doing in supporting humanity.
In separate remarks, two participants expressed appreciation to Prof. Gwarzo for his magnanimity and to the organisers of the programme.
Other management staff members who attended the event included the Acting President of the university, Prof. Haruna Abubakar Sadiq; Vice President, Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; and Vice President, Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba, among others.
