Students of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, on Thursday, 3rd August, 2023, attended the maiden edition of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) Generation Next Forum held at Queen Park Events Center, Lagos state.
The students who participated in the virtual session of the event at the Institute’s legacy center domiciled at Kano State Polytechnic, were accompanied to the venue by the Dean, School of Social and Management Sciences, Dr. Mahmoud Muktar Saidu.
The students are from Banking and Finance, Accounting and Business departments of the university and were received by the ACIB Zonal Coordinator, North-West, Mr. Jamilu Iliyasu and other principal officers of the Association.
The conference with the theme: ‘Industrial 5.0 banking revolution: Insights for generation next’, was aimed at providing a robust platform for stakeholders to examine the criticality of the fifth industrial revolution and its profound impact on the banking and finance industry.
In his welcome address, the Chairman, Planning Organizing Committee, CIBN, Mr. Nath Ude, said the forum was meant to serve as a vital platform to stimulate and rekindle interest among younger generations in the banking industry as well as acquaint them with the necessary skills and competencies to enable them to adapt and excel in today’s dynamic banking environment.
Applauding the turnout, Mr. Ude disclosed that no fewer than 200 institutions in Nigeria participated at the forum through the six existing CIBN legacy centers in various institutions across the country.
Some of the institutions that participated during the conference include, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, University of Abuja, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Rivers State University, Kano State Polytechnic, the Polytechnic Ibadan 2, Federal College of Education, Gombe and Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, among others.
Highlights of the event include students training session, commissioning of experience centre and unveiling of the 60th anniversary logo of the CIBN.
