Galaxy Backbone Limited is set to establish a dedicated centre at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria following a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening digital collaboration.

The development followed the reception of a delegation from Galaxy Backbone Limited, a Federal Government-owned ICT service provider operating under the supervision of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The delegation was led by its Northwest Regional Manager, Malam Nasir Sulaiman Yakubu.

The proposed centre is expected to enhance internet connectivity, improve technical support, and boost efficiency across academic and administrative operations at the University.

Key discussions during the visit centred around MAAUN’s growing need for stable, high-speed internet to support examinations, virtual learning, and student services.

In his remarks, the President of MAAUN, Prof (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, noted that the initiative would further position the institution within Nigeria’s expanding digital education ecosystem.

Speaking, the VP Admin, Dr Habib Awais Abubakar, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to building a strong digital environment that supports innovation and academic excellence.

On their part, Galaxy Backbone expressed readiness to proceed with the project, noting that it aligns with its mandate to strengthen ICT infrastructure in public institutions.

The visit also explored training opportunities in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity for MAAUN students and staff.

Other members of MAAUN in attendance were the Head of Human Resources Unit, Hajiya Maimuna Bello, Head of international office, Engr Bashir Garba, amongst others.
