Kano State Urban Beautification and Landscaping Agency seeks partnership with MAAUN on Waste Recycling, Management

The Kano State Urban Beautification and Landscaping Agency has expressed its desire to collaborate with the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) in the areas of waste recycling and management.

The Director General of the Agency, Dr. Amina Ahmed stated this when she led some management staff of the Agency on a courtesy call and familiarization visit to the university on Thursday.

She explained that the visit was part of the agency’s initiative to establish partnerships with key institutions to advance sustainable development and urban transformation.

he DG, who highlighted the significance of the proposed collaboration, said when the partnership is established, its benefits will extend beyond the two parties and positively impact the state as a whole.

She noted that MAAUN’s academic programs, particularly in the School of Environmental Sciences and the Departments of Architecture and Quantity Surveying, are uniquely positioned to support the agency’s goals.

According to her, these programs are rare in many universities, making MAAUN an ideal partner for advancing urban planning and development.

Dr. Ahmed commended MAAUN for its discipline and the exemplary behaviour of its students, describing these qualities as reflective of the university’s commitment to academic and moral excellence.

On his part, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Maje took the stage to discuss elaborately on operation and supply chain management.

In his remark, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr appreciated the agency for the visit and initiating the discussion on collaboration.

He assured the delegation of MAAUN’s readiness to work together on projects that align with the university’s mission to advance higher education, research, and societal development.

In his remarks, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the agency for recognizing MAAUN as a potential collaborator.

Dr. Habib, who described the visit as an honor to the university, noted that the shared goals of both institutions, particularly in urban beautification and environmental management, would provide a strong foundation for impactful cooperation.

He said the university would require the agency’s expertise in promoting research and innovation with a view to achieving academic excellence.

While highlighting the benefits the two organizations could achieve in the proposed partnership, Dr. Habib said the proposed collaboration would go a long way in fostering innovation and contribute to sustainable urban development in Kano State and beyond.

Also in his brief remark, the Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba stressed the significance of collaboration and expressed hope that the proposed partnership would be beneficial to both organizations.
