Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has received a delegation from Galaxy Backbone Limited on a courtesy visit, with both institutions pledging to strengthen digital collaboration.
The visit signals a shared commitment to enhancing the ICT ecosystem in line with Nigeria’s digital economy objectives.
The Galaxy Backbone delegation, led by its Northwest Regional Coordinator, Malam Nasir Sulaiman Yakubu, was received by the management of MAAUN.
Discussions during the meeting focused on areas of cooperation, including ICT infrastructure development, and capacity building.
Under the proposed partnership, Galaxy Backbone is expected to provide capacity-building programmes for MAAUN IT personnel across multiple support levels.
The agency will also host MAAUN students for excursions to expose them to practical ICT operations in both public and private sector environments.
The collaboration is further expected to improve internet connectivity, strengthen technical support, and enhance efficiency in the University’s academic and administrative processes.
Key concerns raised during the meeting included the University’s growing need for stable, high-speed internet to support examinations, virtual learning, and student services.
In his remarks, the President of MAAUN, Mohammad Israr, said the initiative would position the institution more strongly within Nigeria’s evolving digital education landscape.
Also speaking, the Vice President Administration, Habib Awais Abubakar, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to building a robust digital environment that supports innovation and academic excellence.
On its part, Galaxy Backbone expressed readiness to ensure the success of the partnership, as soon as all processes are being met.
The organisation also reiterated its commitment to strategic partnerships that drive digital transformation in Nigeria’s education sector.
