MAAUN, ITF sign MoU on Teaching, Research Development

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria ( MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Industrial Training Fund (ITF) on teaching and research development.

The partnership is aimed at promoting human capacity development of MAAUN staff based on needs assessment and skills acquisition through intensive practical teaching.

Speaking after the signing of the MoU, the President, MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, stressed the need for the collaboration, which he said would go a long way in addressing the growing demand for research and innovation.

According to him, MAAUN students would have the opportunity to interact during their SIWES with industry experts, where they would have hands-on training experience of their various disciplines.

Prof. Gwarzo, who signed the document on behalf of MAAUN, gave assurance that given the commitment and wealth of experience of the partner institutions, the collaboration would yield the desired result.

He expressed the commitment of the university to channel its resources to ensure that the two parties have an unbelievably successful partnership.

In his remarks, the Director- General of ITF which has its Headquarters inJos, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, explained that the partnership was intended to facilitate the development of collaborative teaching and Research projects.

He listed other areas of the collaboration to include organizing joint academic and scientific activities through conferences, seminars, symposia or lectures in addition to exchange of research and teaching personnel.

Dr. Ogun, who described the MoU as timely, noted that the partnership would provide an opportunity for the graduates of ITF to further their education in MAAUN.

The collaboration was sealed in the presence of the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr and Legal Director, ITF, Hajiya Safiya Abubakar.
