MAAUN MedLab Dept Hosts Expert Session on Biotechnology in Healthcare

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, has organized an online expert session titled “Biotechnology in Healthcare: Innovations and Applications.”

The virtual lecture featured Dr. Gunnjeet Kaur, Associate Dean at the School of Agricultural Sciences, Career Point University, India.

Dr. Kaur, who is a seasoned academic and researcher, provided insights into the role of biotechnology in modern healthcare.

She examined the development of genetically engineered insulin, highlighting its impact on diabetes management.

Speaking on vaccine development, Dr. Kaur outlined how biotechnology has revolutionized the creation of vaccines, ensuring faster and more effective responses to global health challenges.

Earlier, in his address, the Chair of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Mal. Haruna Khalifa Idris appealed to the faculty members to take advantage of such sessions to enhance their knowledge and research capacity.

He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in advancing healthcare innovations through biotechnology.

The session concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage with Dr. Kaur, seek clarification and gain additional insights into various aspects of biotechnology in healthcare.

In her closing remarks, Khadija Salisu, a faculty member, expressed gratitude to Dr. Kaur for sharing her expertise and valuable insights.

She also thanked the organizers for putting together an informative session and appreciated the participants for their active engagement, which contributed to the success of the event.

The session was attended by MAAUN President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, Public Relations Officer, Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah, member of CCPU, Umar Faruk Tukur, and many other faculty members from the Medical Laboratory Science Department of the university.
