Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria ends exciting maiden students Week
The final football match which was part of the activities lined up in the week-long students week program, was played at the Ibrahim Usman Yakasai Sports Complex on Saturday evening, 10th September, 2022 where Management staff of the university were in attendance.
The final match which marks the end of the program, was played between students of School of Social and Management Sciences (winners of first match) and students of School of Computing (winners of second match) and ended in favor of Social and Management Sciences students
The match initially ended in a draw (7-7) but penalty kicks were offered to the two teams in order to get a winner.
After the match, the Founder and chairman Governing council of MAAUN conglomerate, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo donated N1 million to SMS students who came first while the students of Computing team that came second went home with N500,000.
During the cooking feast, Fatima Zailani Ayagi came first while Khadija Adali Labaran and Bilkisu Zakari took second and third positions respectively.
General award for participation in the cooking feast was also given to all the nine female students that participated in the feast.
Similarly, in poetry, Khadija Nasir Garba came first while Umar Faruk Mohammed and Khadija Zawiyya won the second and third positions.
In the presentation of Biography of Icons, Khadija Nasir Garba took the first position while Ummi Sulaiman Mohammed and Aisha Abubakar Mohammed came second and third respectively.
Also in Cultural dance, the Fulani cultural troupe won the first position while Yoruba and Shuwa Arab cultural groups emerged second and third in the competition.
In addition for the old school show Abdurrahman michika collected the award on behalf of his group while Zainab Hussein Umar Tunau collected an award on behalf of her group for the Indian display
In his closing remarks at the occasion, the President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr thanked the students for their active participation in the week-long program.
He gave the assurance that the university would continue to sustain the program so as to give the students the opportunity to partake in the extra curricular activities for their physical and mental development.
Among other management staff that watched the final match include the Vice President Administration MAAUN, Kano, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar and Director Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Nura A. Yaro.
Also in attendance were, the Director Institute of Africa Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, Vice President Finance, Mr. Dauda Abdulrazaq Kayode, Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Musa Lawal Jibia and Vice President MAAUN Niger, Dr. Shu\’aibu Usman Tanko, among others.
