President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria donates blood to the University Clinic
In his quest to save lives, the President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, has on Thursday, November 17th, 2022, donated blood to the University Clinic to help individuals who are in need of blood in the society.
The donation, according to Prof. Israr was also aimed at assisting those in need of the blood but could not afford it.
In an interview with the Director, Health Services, MAAUN Clinic, Dr. Lawal Muhammad Tahir, described the gesture by the President as a life-saving act, adding that it symbolizes responsibility of the donor towards assisting humanity.
Dr. Tahir noted that blood donation is usually motivated by a strong will to save lives and reduce high blood volume (hypervolemia) in the body system.
He highlighted some health benefits of donating blood which include maintaining a healthy heart and liver, lowering the risk of cancer diseases and minimizing the risk of depression.
