The General Education Unit at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), has organized an international conference on General Studies as part of an effort to promote general education and general courses for all learners.
The two-day conference held at the Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin Lecture Theatre, was designed to support quality education/general courses instruction using technology and digital tools.
In his welcome address, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr welcomed participants to the conference.
He described the conference as a platform where research meets reality, theory informs practice, and young scholars sit with seasoned experts to shape solutions for society.
Prof. Israr commended the general education directorate for organizing the program, describing it as timely, relevant, and bold.
While wishing the participants of the conference a fruitful discussions, Prof. Israr reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering research, innovation, and impactful collaboration for academic excellence.
Earlier In his remark, a faculty member and one of the organisers of the conference, Mr. Abdul Kabir Abdullahi, said the conference was designed to promote general education and general courses for all learners.
He said the conference with the themes: The Cognitive Contribution of General Courses in Higher Education and The Future of AI-powered Teaching and Learning of General Courses, aims to support quality education/general courses instruction, using technology and digital tools.
In his remark, the Founder of the university, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, appreciated the organisers of the conference, saying that MAAUN remains committed to promoting all issues that support academic activities for the development of education.
Prof. Gwarzo who was represented at the event by the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, said the founder is also committed to promoting education through the provision of scholarships to the less-privileged in the society.
According to him, students of MAAUN stand a unique opportunity to acquire quality education to enable them compete with other graduates from across the globe.
Also in attendance were the Head, international office, Engr. Bashir Garba, who delivered a vote of thanks, Chief Librarian, Mr. Oragbe Ushahemba as well as some faculty members, among others.
