Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria has intensified its commitment to student development and industry collaboration with its participation in the maiden decentralised Alumni Graduation Ceremony of Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) in Kano State.
The university’s attendance followed the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MAAUN and TAFTA on creative and entrepreneurial skills development.
The MAAUN delegation was led by its President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr and the Vice President, Dr Habib Awais, who attended the event alongside a number of students.
The university’s presence highlighted the institution’s dedication to exposing students to practical, real-world opportunities.
The ceremony brought together key stakeholders, graduates, and industry players to showcase the impact of the TAFTA programme and promote youth engagement.
MAAUN students at the event had the opportunity to interact with professionals, gain industry insights, and explore potential career pathways in the creative sector.
TAFTA, an initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation, has trained over 28,000 young Nigerians, with more than 16,000 already placed in jobs or supported to start their own businesses.
MAAUN’s participation reflects its strategic focus on partnerships that enhance innovation, bridge the gap between academia and industry, and prepare students to become self-reliant graduates.
