MAAUN-AISD Participates in World Bank-Supported HOPE-EDU Workshop in Kano

A delegation from the African Institute for Solutions and Development (AISD), Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, took part in a sensitisation workshop for Commissioners of Education and SUBEB Chairmen from seven North-West and six North-East states in Kano.

The workshop is part of the nationwide rollout of the HOPE-EDU programme, supported by the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education.

The MAAUN-AISD delegation included the President of MAAUN, Prof Mohammad Israr; Executive Chairman of AISD, Dr. Audu Liman; Executive Director AISD, Dr Salisu Muhammad; Haj Nafisa Ado; and Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah.

MAAUN-AISD said its participation reflects its commitment to supporting policies and solutions that improve access to quality education across Nigeria.

The institute described the initiative as a major step toward inclusive and sustainable education development in Nigeria.

The $552.18 million initiative by the federal government aims to transform basic education and improve learning outcomes nationwide.

The program is implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission and SUBEBs.

Speaking during the program, UBEC Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, said the programme will benefit over 29 million children, train 500,000 teachers, and build 13,000 classrooms.

She added that it will also help reintegrate millions of out-of-school children into the formal education system.

Dignitaries at the event included Commissioners of Education, SUBEB Chairmen, Permanent Secretaries, and other government officials from across the North-West and North-East regions.
